Gregg Popovich defends 'Hack-a-Shaq' tactic as only he can

If it's not against the rules, it's not against the rules.

That's Gregg Popovich's stance on intentional fouls, aka "Hack-a-Shaq" (or, in the case of the Los Angeles Clippers, "Hack-a-DeAndre-Jordan").

When asked Monday about the increasing use of the tactic during the playoffs, the Spurs coach defended it from a strategic standpoint, while acknowledging that it's an eyesore for fans.

Here's Popovich's full quote, which is classic Popovich, via Dan McCarney of the San Antonio-Express News:

Despite using the tactic on a regular basis against Jordan -- who was a 40 percent free-throw shooter in the regular season -- Popovich and the Spurs were eliminated from the first found of the playoffs by the Clippers, in seven games.
