SARASOTA, Fla. (AP) -- Miguel Gonzalez allowed four runs in two innings to a split squad of Pittsburgh Pirates in the Baltimore Orioles' 5-2 loss on Sunday.
Gonzalez, the Orioles' second-leading winner in 2012, started for the second time this spring and allowed a four-run second that was made worse by left fielder Nate McLouth's error.
With one out in the second, Brad Hawpe hit a ball to left-center that McLouth had a hard time handling on a windy day. McLouth was charged with an error, and quickly four runs scored on four hits. Three of the runs were unearned.
Gerrit Cole, the first pick in the 2011 draft, allowed a two-run homer to Ryan Flaherty in the third inning. Cole was charged with two runs and four hits in four innings.
KISSIMMEE, Fla. (AP) -- Chone Figgins was 4 for 4, Wade LeBlanc pitched four scoreless innings and the Miami Marlins defeated the Atlanta Braves 10-2 Sunday.
LeBlanc gave up five hits and walked none as he ran his spring training scoreless streak to nine innings. The left-hander, who threw 28 of his 42 pitches for strikes, is competing with John Maine and Kevin Slowey for the final spot in the Miami rotation.
Braves starter Tim Hudson labored through five innings, throwing 97 pitches and allowing six runs, nine hits, two hit batters and one walk.
Marcell Ozuna hit a three-run homer in the first inning and fellow outfield prospect Christian Yelich had a two-run drive in the seventh.
B.J. Upton was 3 for 3 for the Braves and is hitting .382 (13 for 34).
DUNEDIN, Fla. (AP) -- David Phelps kept up his strong spring training, allowing three hits over five innings in the New York Yankees' 3-0 win over the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday.
Phelps, bidding for a rotation spot, has given up just one run in 14 innings over four starts. Juan Rivera had three hits, including a three-run double off Brett Cecil in the fifth.
Blue Jays left-hander J.A. Happ allowed four hits in 3 1-3 scoreless innings.
Yankees ace CC Sabathia, the expected opening day starter, threw 52 pitches during a simulated game at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa. The left-hander, who had offseason left elbow bone spur surgery, is scheduled to make first exhibition start Friday against Miami.
LAKELAND, Fla. (AP) -- Rick Porcello pitched five shutout innings and the Detroit Tigers beat the Washington Nationals 2-1 Sunday.
Porcello gave up three hits and struck out four. He has fanned 14 without a walk this spring, and has a 2.08 ERA.
Porcello is competing with Drew Smyly for the final opening in the Tigers' rotation. Smyly has yet to allow a run in nine innings.
Dan Haren went four innings in his third start for the Nationals. He allowed two earned runs in four innings and struck out three.
Andy Dirks had two hits for the Tigers, improving his spring average to .308. He is in competition with Brennan Boesch and Quintin Berry for the left field slot, and all three played against Washington.
KISSIMMEE, Fla. (AP) -- Cole Hamels gave up one hit in five innings and Laynce Nix homered for the Philadelphia Phillies in a 7-1 victory over the Houston Astros on Sunday.
Hamels retired 14 straight batters after giving up a leadoff double to Tyler Greene in the first inning.
Brandon Laird was the only other batter to reach against Hamels, drawing a two-out walk in the fifth.
Greene scored Houston's run on a groundball. Hamels struck out one in his fourth spring start.
Freddy Galvis had three straight hits for the Phillies and Erik Kratz hit a two-run triple off Jarred Cosart. Astros starter Brad Peacock worked three shutout innings.
Phillies left fielder Darin Ruf left in the sixth after being hit on his left arm by a pitch from Cosart.
FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) -- Andrew McCutchen, Gaby Sanchez and Tony Sanchez hit home runs, leading the Pittsburgh Pirates over the Minnesota Twins 7-4 Sunday.
Jonathan Sanchez, in his first spring training start and fourth appearance, gave up two runs and two hits in two innings. Sanchez has an 11.81 ERA in 5 1-3 innings during the exhibition season.

Josh Willingham homered in the first for the Twins.
JUPITER, Fla. (AP) -- Shaun Marcum and six Mets relievers combined on a three-hit shutout Sunday, propelling New York to a 3-0 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals.
Making his third start of the spring, Marcum allowed only one hit and didn't walk anyone in 3 2-3 innings.
St. Louis starter Jamie Garcia was equally baffling to New York hitters. The left-hander threw five shutout innings, surrendering four hits and a walk.
The Mets scored in the eighth when Travis d'Arnaud drew a walk from Edward Mujica, moved up on a wild pitch and later came home on Jordany Valdespin's single.
Jamie Hoffman hit a two-run double in the ninth.
PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. (AP) -- The Boston Red Sox will shut down designated hitter David Ortiz for several days with sore left heel, announcing the news after Sunday's 6-2 win over the Tampa Bay Rays.
Manager John Farrell received the MRI results during the game. He expects Ortiz to be out for five to seven days because of inflammation.
Ortiz had MRI tests done on both heels Saturday for comparative purposes. The eight-time All-Star is still making his way back from a strained right Achilles tendon that limited him to 90 games last season.
David Ross hit a three-run homer for Boston and John Lackey allowed two runs and four hits in 3 2-3 innings.
