Gophers defenseman Reilly named All-American

MINNEAPOLIS -- You can now call Gophers defenseman Mike Reilly a two-time All-American.
The University of Minnesota men's hockey team announced Friday that Reilly, a junior from Chanhassen, Minn., has earned his second All-America honor in as many years, as named by the American Hockey Coaches Association.
Reilly, who also won the award in 2014, becomes the seventh player in Gophers history to win multiple All-American honors. He's the first since current Minnesota Wild defenseman Jordan Leopold was named an All-American in 2001 and 2002.
Reilly led all Division I defensemen in scoring this year with 42 points, which was also tops on the Gophers. Friday's accolade is the latest in a long list of awards for Reilly that includes the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year and Hobey Baker finalist.
A fourth-round pick of the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2011, Reilly is expected to leave school early to turn pro. Although one report says Reilly has decided to forego his senior season, the team has yet to make the announcement official.
