The Detroit Lions have identified a potential complement for Calvin Johnson.
Free-agent receiver Golden Tate, who played for the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks last season, is expected to make a visit to the Lions Tuesday night, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Unrestricted free agents could begin signing contracts Tuesday at 4 p.m.
Tate (5-foot-10, 202 pounds) had career bests in catches (64) and receiving yards (898) in 2013. He also scored five touchdowns.
The Lions are in need of help at receiver after releasing Nate Burleson a few weeks ago. The status of Ryan Broyles is also unclear because he's coming off a torn Achilles' tendon.
No Detroit receiver other than Johnson has caught more than 39 passes in either of the last two seasons.
Tate, 25, was a second-round draft pick (60th overall) coming out of Notre Dame in 2010.
