Glass named USA Volleyball Women's POY

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) Setter Alisha Glass is the USA Volleyball women's indoor player of the year.

The organization also announced Monday that outside hitter Kim Hill is the national team's most improved player.

Glass, who is from Leland, Michigan, was named the best setter of the 2014 FIVB Women's World Championship. The top-ranked U.S. team won for the first time in the event's 62 years.

Glass started 11 of the 13 matches, helping the U.S. reach a 40.5 kill percentage. She added 11 kills, 15 blocks and five aces.

Hill, who is from Portland, Oregon, started 24 matches this season, averaging 2.99 points and 1.24 digs per set. At the World Championship, she scored 20 points in the gold-medal match against China. The United States won in four sets.
