NEW YORK (AP) San Francisco catcher Geno Escalante has been suspended for 50 games under baseball's minor league drug program following his second positive test for a drug of abuse.

On the roster of Class A San Jose of the California League, Escalante was a 15th-round draft pick two years ago. The 25-year-old hit .174 with no homers and seven RBIs in 122 plate appearances last year for Salem-Keizer of the Northwest League and Augusta of the South Atlantic League, both Class A teams.

Following Escalante's suspension Friday, 30 players have been disciplined this year under the minor league program, including 19 for violations involving drugs of abuse.
