George R.R. Martin was scared to see Geno Smith on Jets' depth chart

The Jets have finally decided to give the reins of the offense to Mike Vick, and on Sunday, it worked out well.

The Steelers were down 17-0 before most of the fans were in their seats, the Jets hung on for a 20-13, wire-to-wire win, and Jets fans rejoiced in the victory.

"Game of Thrones" author and noted Jets follower George R.R. Martin in particular was pleasantly surprised with the result. The famed fantasy author, who had penned entries on the woeful New York QB situation on his website before, shared his latest Jets insights in a recent blog post:

Looks like Martin knew what ailed the Jets before old Rex Ryan and John Idzik did —€“ 1-7 was a bit late in the game to bench Geno Smith officially. The Jets' offense has looked better the past two weeks, going 1-1 with Vick as the starter.

Still, it's telling when seeing Smith at No. 2 on the depth chart can make a man who has penned some of most gruesome stories in modern culture cringe.

That's how scary bad Smith has been in his short NFL tenure. Like, Red Wedding bad.
