FSU's Jameis Winston named ACC's rookie of the year

Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston was named the ACC’s rookie of the year and offensive rookie of the year on Tuesday afternoon in balloting by the conference’s media members.
He led the ACC in passing yards (3,490) and touchdowns (35). Winston’s 35 TD passes broke the school record set by Florida State’s Chris Weinke in 2000.
Virginia Tech’s Kendall Fuller was named the ACC’s defensive rookie of the year.
Winston was the choice on 56 of 65 ballots for overall rookie of the year. Duke safety DeVon Edwards received four votes, Pittsburgh wide receiver Tyler Boyd had two votes, and Miami wide receiver Stacy Coley, Maryland cornerback William Likely and Fuller each received a vote.
And Winston is also a finalist for three major awards - the Maxwell, Manning and O'Brien. He is also appearing in a number of Heisman straw polls as the No. 1 candidate to win college football's most prestigious trophy.
Duke’s David Cutcliffe was named the ACC coach of the year. He led the Blue Devils to a 10-2 record and a Coastal Division title. The program had just 10 wins combined from 2000-07 (Cutcliffe arrived in Durham in 2008).
