FSD Tigers analyst Rod Allen launches 'Rookies on Deck'

Students from the Radio and Television Broadcast program at Detroit School of Arts will get to enjoy a Detroit Tigers game at Comerica Park as part of Rookies On Deck: Detroit's Future Broadcast Stars.
Rookies On Deck, which spans three days, begins Wednesday with FOX Sports Detroit Tigers analyst Rod Allen hosting 15 students on a tour of the station's studios and leading a panel discussion about careers at the television station. The panel discussion includes Allen (analyst), Mike Isenberg (Coordinating Producer), Lauren Pober (Director of Marketing) and Justin White (reporter).
On Thursday, seniors of the program will meet Allen, tour the Detroit Tigers Ernie Harwell Media Center at Comerica Park and visit the FOX Sports Detroit Live stage. Students and teachers of the Radio, Television and Communications program will take in the Tigers afternoon game against the Houston Astros and receive a Rookies on Deck T-shirt.
The program culminates on June 3 with a personal visit by Allen to the Detroit School of Arts, where he will tour the broadcasting facilities and speak with all 125 students in the program.
"It's important to give these kids a chance to see what opportunities in sports and broadcasting are out there," said Allen. "I was looking for another opportunity to give back to the community and am excited to share my experience with them."
Rookies on Deck is a gift from Allen, in cooperation with the Detroit Tigers and the Detroit Tigers Foundation, an affiliate of Ilitch Charities.
