From the booth to the tee, Pavin's focus shifts to U.S. Senior Open
After finishing up coverage of the U.S. Open at Chambers Bay as part of the inaugural FOX Sports Golf broadcast team, Corey Pavin is back on the course.
He won't be running around the tournament grounds giving updates, this time he'll be competing for a chance to win a USGA title of his own.
The U.S. Senior Open is set to get underway Thursday at Del Paso Country Club in Sacramento, California, and the 1995 U.S. Open champion will be looking to add another major championship to his long list of accomplishments.
How does he feel he did in his first go-around as a TV commentator for a major championship?
"I'm not sure" Pavin told Steve Pajak of the Sacramento Bee, "I leave it up to the producer to tell me. He seemed reasonably pleased."
Pavin believes "sound has never been captured that well at a golf event", and the FOX broadcast's ability to capture player/caddie, as well as player/player interactions really enhanced the viewing experience throughout the week.
FOX's use of ball-tracking technology was utilized wonderfully, too, as were graphics to help viewers locate pin placements.
Del Paso will offer plenty of things for Pavin to worry about throughout his quest for the Senior Open title, and the USGA along with FOX Sports will be there with Natalie Gulbis in the booth to guide the viewer every step of the way.
