1 Cardinals 45-25
Thanks to their dominant pitching staff, the Cardinals are still the team on top. Adam Wainwright has been lights out, with a 10-3 record and a 2.18 ERA in 14 starts entering this week.
2 Athletics 42-30 +3
The Athletics took advantage of the Rangers’ recent slump to claim the top spot in American League West and build a three-game lead on their division rivals as they head to Texas for four games.
3 Reds 43-28 +3
While the offense, led by leadoff hitter Shin-Shoo Choo and MVP candidate Joey Votto, is keeping up its dominance, the return of Johnny Cueto to the rotation will surely help the Reds in a tough National League Central race.
4 Red Sox 42-29 -1
Of all the turnarounds on this year’s Red Sox team compared to last season’s disaster, pitcher Clay Buchholz’s has been the most impressive. He has yet to lose a game while sporting a 1.71 ERA entering this week.
5 Orioles 40-31 +6
Chris Davis entered this week leading the majors with 23 home runs. The rest of the O’s lineup isn’t to be taken lightly, either.
6 Pirates 41-29 +3
With each passing week, the Pirates appear to look like the team that will finally end Pittsburgh’s baseball frustrations with a winning season and maybe even a playoff berth.
7 Braves 42-28 -5
The Braves didn’t have much luck in San Diego against the surprisingly hot Padres, but they rebounded to take two of three from the Giants at home.
8 Tigers 39-29 -1
Even though the Tigers haven’t dominated the AL Central as many expected, they still might be the most complete team in baseball.
9 Rangers 39-31 -5
The Rangers' bats have gone cold.
10 Yankees 38-31 -2
Are the Yankees starting to show their true colors after coming away with only one win last week?
11 Diamondbacks 37-33 -1
Fireworks flew against the Dodgers earlier in the week, but the Diamondbacks appeared to run out of energy against the Padres.
12 Padres 36-34 +5
There is no hotter team in baseball. The Padres are above .500 for the first time this season and riding a six-game winning streak.
13 Giants 35-34
The lineup has produced well enough to keep the team afloat, but the Giants need to get their once-dominant pitching staff back to form.
14 Rays 36-33 -2
The loss of one of the team's best pitchers, Alex Cobb, after a line drive off his head won’t help a struggling rotation. The Rays hope highly touted prospect Wil Myers can produce a spark.
15 Rockies 37-34 -1
Troy Tulowitzki was having an MVP-caliber season until landingon the disabled list, but at least Colorado still has Carlos Gonzalez to anchor the lineup in Tulo’s absence.
16 Royals 34-34 +4
After falling off the map only a few weeks ago, the Royals are slowing climbing back into the race. The starting pitching has been excellent, but KC needs the lineup to start holding its own.
17 Blue Jays 33-36 +1
They aren’t exactly where they would have liked to have been at this point in the season, but the Blue Jays appear to have righted the ship after a disastrous start.
18 Nationals 34-35 -3
The Nationals expected to have a record a lot better than .500 at this point of the season. Washington still is in position to turn things around if its lineup can start to hit to its potential.
19 Indians 34-35
The Indians turned around a bad run with a good week, taking series from the Rangers and the Nationals.
20 Phillies 34-37 -4
Cole Hamels just notched his 10th loss of the season on Sunday against the Rockies. That helps explain how far the Phillies are removed from their success of years past.
21 Twins 30-36 +1
The Twins pitching staff ranks near the bottom of the league. Minnesota appears to be far from contention any time soon.
22 Angels 31-39 +1
Instead of Albert Pujols and Josh Hamilton leading the Angels offensively, it has been the young duo of Mike Trout and Mark Trumbo.
23 Mariners 31-40 +3
The Mariners showed they still have some fight in them, taking two games from the surging Athletics last week in Oakland behind excellent pitching.
24 Dodgers 29-39 -3
The Dodgers showed some spark in a brawl against the Diamondbacks, but they failed to bring that flame to the field in another disappointing week.
25 Cubs 28-40 -1
Carlos Marmol, while filling in for Kevin Gregg at closer, couldn’t hold down the lead as the Mets won on a walk-off home run Sunday.
26 Brewers 28-40 +1
The Brewers shut out an opponent for the first time all season Saturday at Cincinnati. They were the last team in the majors to get a shutout in 2013.
27 White Sox 29-38 -2
Ten games below .500 lands the White Sox among the bottom-feeders in the majors despite a decent pitching rotation. Chicago needs more production from the lineup.
28 Astros 26-45 +1
Jason Castro, the Astros' 2008 first-round pick, is finally starting to show he belongs in the majors, helping Houston win 12 of 20 games entering this week.
29 Mets 25-40 -1
David Wright and Matt Harvey can’t do it all for the Mets. This team needs a lot of work to get back to relevancy.
30 Marlins 22-47
The Marlins came away with some good news last week, taking two out of three against the Cardinals, who own the best record in the majors.
