PALM BEACH, FL. -- FOX Sports Florida announced today that they will be featuring the Palm Beach Atlantic-Friendship Academy game and the Dwyer-Miami Central game on FOXSportsFlorida.com via Prep Zone, presented by Checkers. Ed Berliner will call the games, alongside color commentator David Gibson, and Kavita Channe will be reporting from the sidelines.

On Friday, Aug. 23rd, at 7:00 p.m., Prep Zone will be in Palm Beach County for a showdown between visiting Washington D.C. Friendship Academy and Palm Beach Atlantic. The defending state champion Knights, who knocked off crosstown Dunbar 48-12 to win the inaugural D.C. title last season, are powered by a shutdown secondary keyed by a pair of senior four-star recruits: 5-foot-9 Tennessee commit D’Andre Payne and 6-foot-2 Jalen Tabor (Alabama, Florida, Maryland, Vanderbilt). The host Eagles and their new coach T.J. Jackson are rebuilding in defense after losing their entire starting unit to graduation. That could prove troubling against a Friendship attack that averaged 36 points per game in 2013. Atlantic quarterback Thomas Owens has a formidable target in 6-foot-5 senior Adly Enoicy (South Carolina, Virginia Tech).

On Saturday, Aug. 24th, at 7:00 p.m., Prep Zone will be in Palm Beach County for a scintillating matchup between visiting Miami Central and Dwyer, perennially two of Florida’s top programs. The defending Class 6A champion Rockets have a new coach in Roland Smith and are once again loaded on both sides of the ball. Central features one of the nation’s best backfield duos in senior running backs Dalvin Cook (Florida) and Joseph Yearby (Miami), who combined on more than 2,900 rushing yards and 41 touchdowns last season. Defensively, the Rockets graduated a slew of key starters but do return 6-foot-2, 270-pound tackle Frederick Jones (Florida State) and 5-foot-11 defensive back Deatrick Nichols (South Florida). The host Panthers will feature a high-powered air attack run by junior quarterback Daniel Parr and featuring a trio of speedy senior wide receivers: 6-foot Johnnie Dixon (Alabama, Arkansas, Ohio St.), 5-foot-9 Clint Stephens and 5-foot-6 Ezra Saffold. Senior defensive linemen Mark Kelly and Tim Jackson lead a unit that lacks some depth but is still stout.
