FOX Sports Florida, Prep Zone Game of the Week featuring a district 5A-15 showdown
(FORT LAUDERDALE, FL) ― FOX Sports Florida announced today that they will be featuring the Cardinal Gibbons-Pompano Beach game on FOXSportsFlorida.com via Prep Zone, presented by Checkers. Prep Zone is a revolutionary way of displaying high school football merging television, web and social media all in one place. Ed Berliner will call the game, alongside color commentator David Gibson and Kavita Channe reporting from the sidelines.
On Thursday, Sept. 20, at 7:00 pm ET, Prep Zone heads to Broward County for a District 5A-15 showdown between visiting Pompano Beach and undefeated Cardinal Gibbons. New coach Larry Cherry is tasked with helping to turn around the Golden Tornadoes, who went 2-8 last year, losing 42-9 to Cardinal Gibbons. Pompano Beach has good size up front but will need its skill players like senior running back Paul Elliott and senior quarterback Mike Priziter to lead the way against the Chiefs.
Cardinal Gibbons returns seven starters one each side of the ball, led by junior wide receiver Trevon Lee (30 catches, 771 yards, 8 touchdowns) and junior running back Marcus Dixon. Defensively, the Chiefs feature a lockdown secondary led by senior defensive backs Kevaughn Reid and Alfred Battle III. District runners-up in 2011 to Plantation American Heritage, the Chiefs have their eyes on the top spot this season.
