March 1, 2011
The Arizona Diamondbacks announced Tuesday that FOX Sports Arizona, the exclusive home of D-backs baseball, will televise 150 regular-season games in 2011 in High Definition.
"FOX Sports Arizona will provide in-depth coverage to all of our fans in what will truly be an All-Star season for the D-backs in 2011," said D-backs' President and CEO Derrick Hall. "The network does a great job of reaching the core of the D-backs' fan base in nearly three million households throughout Arizona and New Mexico."
Daron Sutton returns for his fifth season as play-by-play announcer on all D-backs telecasts on FOX Sports Arizona. Mark Grace will return for the eighth year as an analyst, with Hall of Fame announcer Joe Garagiola Sr., Luis Gonzalez and Tom Candiotti stepping in as an analyst on select games.
FOX Sports Arizona launches its 14th season of televising D-backs baseball with a special one-hour pre-game show starting at noon on April 1, prior to the Opening Day game against the Colorado Rockies in Denver.
"Our 2011 coverage of D-backs baseball includes every game televised in High Definition," said Mike Connelly, FOX Sports Arizona Senior Vice President and General Manager. "We will cover the Major League Baseball All-Star Game's festivities and the 10th Anniversary celebration of the 2001 World Series title to give our viewers the most in-depth and comprehensive coverage of the D-backs. It will be a great time to be a baseball fan in Arizona and FOX Sports Arizona is proud to deliver it all to our viewers."
FOX Sports Arizona will air its "Diamondbacks Live" pre-game show before telecasts from the site of the game. The "Qwest Diamondbacks Live" post-game show will follow D-backs games this year as well. FOX Sports Arizona's pre- and post-game shows will air live from Chase Field's Miller Lite Diamond Club for home-game telecasts.
A new programming effort for FOX Sports Arizona this season will be its "D-backs Snapshot" series. Profiles will allow fans to get to know their favorite players even better. There are eight episodes planned for 2011, including Justin Upton, Chris Young, Joe Saunders, Ian Kennedy, J.J. Putz, Stephen Drew, Kelly Johnson and Miguel Montero.
All 162 D-backs games in 2011 will be broadcast on Sports 620 KTAR in Phoenix and on the D-backs' radio network, with Greg Schulte returning for this 14th season as play-by-play announcer and Candiotti for his sixth season as analyst. Jeff Munn will return as host of the pre- and post-game radio shows, as well as fill in as a play-by-play announcer and analyst on select games. Former D-backs reliever Mike Fetters will also fill in as an analyst on select broadcast. All regular season games will also be broadcast in Spanish on ESPN Deportes 710 AM. The team's Spanish voices are Oscar Soria, Miguel Quintana and Richard Saenz.
