Pulling off his U.S. Army All-American Bowl uniform to reveal a black and gold Arizona State jersey, four-star cornerback recruit Stanley "Scrappy" Norman gave his verbal commitment to the Sun Devils during the high school All-Star game on Saturday.
Though Norman at his announcment stood behind hats representing ASU, Oklahoma, UCLA, Alabama and Washington State, it was widely believed his decision came down to the Sun Devils and the Cougars.
The 5'10, 165 cornerback from Gardena, Calif., is ranked as the 18th-best at his position and 136th-best player overall, according to Scout.
Norman, who is listed as a two-way "athlete" by some recruiting services, was joined at the Army All-American Bowl by two fellow Arizona State commitments, 4-star quarterback Brady White and 4-star running back Jaason Lewis. Norman didn't play in the game because he continues to recover from a knee injury suffered during his senior season.
Arizona State now has 19 commitments for its 2015 recruiting class and with Norman's commitment has the 20th-ranked class in the nation, according to Scout. With National Signing Day set for Feb. 4, the Sun Devils, coming off their second consecutive 10-win season, seem likely to finish with their second top-25 recruiting class in a row.
