Foster out of practice again as Johnson continues to rest

HOUSTON - After returning to practice Wednesday following two-straight days resting an unknown injury, Arian Foster was inactive once again during training camp Friday after the team's day off on Thursday.

The details of Foster's injury remain a mystery, but head coach Bill O'Brien still isn't worried about the Texans running back being ready for the season.

"You know, he's doing OK," O'Brien said. "It's kind of a day-to-day thing. It's nothing serious. I would assume—I guess you can't assume anything, but I would assume he would be back pretty soon."

Foster, who made headlines by spurning the media's questions in his first interview since last season on Wednesday, is believed to be dealing with a minor hamstring injury. The running back missed eight games in '13 due to a back injury that required surgery.

Andre Johnson also missed practice once again with a minor hamstring injury. While the Texans are wanting to see their wide receiver back in full action, O'Brien is being careful not rush him back at such an early stage of the preseason.

"I think he's doing better. I think that is something he and I talk about every day," O'Brien said. "I don't think there is a need to rush him back. I think he needs to come back when he feels ready to be back. Again, that is not a serious injury, but it is not something that you need to rush him back."

Despite not taking part in morning practices, Johnson has been participating in afternoon workouts as O'Brien continues to install his offensive playbook.

"In the afternoon walkthrough, we walk through a lot of things with him, routes and adjustments and signals and things like that," O'Brien said. "It's been my experience with guys of that caliber, being one of the top receivers in this league; they get there for a reason. They have talent, they have great ability, they're really great teammates and they're smart. You can see that right away with him."
