OSLO, Norway (AP) Former European 100-meter bronze medalist Jaysuma Saidy Ndure has been sentenced to 75 days in prison after being convicted of domestic violence, Norwegian news agency NTB reported Thursday.
Ndure, the Norwegian 100-meter and 200-meter record holder, was also ordered to pay 30,000 kroner ($3,500) in damages to his ex-girlfriend.
NTB said the sprinter, who was born in Gambia but now represents Norway, will appeal the ruling in the Nedre Romerike district court.
The Norwegian athletics federation said the judgment wouldn't have any consequences for Ndure's athletic career.
