Former Charlotte women's soccer player signs with Swedish team

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Former Charlotte 49ers women's soccer player Carrie Dail has signed a professional contract in Sweden for the summer. Dail, a senior this past season for the 49ers, has signed with Tierp IF, a member of the Division I Norra Svealand League.
Starting all 20 games last year, Dail finished the season second in goals with six and tied for first in assists with five. She also had two game-winning goals, at East Carolina (Sept. 3) and against North Florida (Sept. 7).
"I knew I wasn't done yet," says the Hubert, N.C., native. "I knew I wanted to keep playing while I was still able to." She adds that she is looking forward to traveling around Europe in her spare time and working as hard as she can to be the best teammate possible.
Dail has already made an impact on her new team. Making her debut in the second half of the team's game against Korsnäs IF FK Saturday, Dail scored after only five minutes of being on the field. The team's sport director and coaches are already impressed with their latest addition. "Carrie has been very good in training. She is technical, fast and has a good shot," said Ola Melin, the club's sport's director.
Carrie is also adjusting to life in Sweden. "I really like Tierp. It is a small town but I am very used to that. It's actually quite a bit bigger than [her hometown]."
Dail and her teammates' next match will be Saturday against Vasalunds IF.
