'Tuel Time' in Buffalo was short lived.

First-year head coach Doug Marrone named EJ Manuel his starting quarterback Wednesday morning, after the rookie from Florida State was announced healthy.

Jeff Tuel, an undrafted rookie free agent out of Washington State was competing for the job with Manuel, and many presumed him the starter Week One vs New England.

But Manuel's knee checked out fine after a minor surgical procedure, and he will start despite missing the final two preseason games.

And down in the swamps of Jersey, the New York Jets named another rookie their starting quarterback, as Geno Smith got the nod to start Week One vs Tampa Bay.

Mark Sanchez's injured shoulder will likely keep him out several weeks, and apparently team brass was not comfortable going with Matt Simms, who played well in the preseason.

The team also signed Brady Quinn this week, but it will be Smith out there against Darrelle Revis & co. on Sunday.
