Feud of the Week: Almirola calls Brian Scott a 'dart without feathers'

Sunday's race at Auto Club Speedway saw its fair share of tire issues, but that wasn't the problem for Aric Almirola. His problem was Brian Scott.

One week after posting his career-best finish at Bristol, the Richard Petty Motorsport driver was sliding through the grass on Lap 70. Once out of the car, Almirola was none too happy about how he got there.

After watching the replay before speaking with FOX Sports, Almirola said it was "pretty obvious what happened."

"The 33 was obviously a dart without feathers and coming across the race track. He ran right into me," he said of Brian Scott, driver of the No. 33. "Man, he came from all the way at the bottom of the race track and ran into me. He's not even racing this series for points. He's out there having fun because his daddy gets to pay for it and he wrecked us. That's frustrating."

Scott's wife, Whitney Kay Scott, responded to Almirola's comments via her Twitter account.

This is not the first time Almirola and Scott have had issues, either. The pair had a heated conversation following a 2011 NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Kentucky Speedway, stemming from a string of incidents throughout that season.

"He races like it's the last lap every time he's around me," Scott said following that incident. "I've had enough of it."

They say old habits are hard to kick, and apparently so are old rivalries.
