EUGENE, Ore. -- The dead heat between Allyson Felix and Jeneba Tarmoh for third place at the U.S. Olympic track and field trials and the final Team USA berth in the women’s 100-meter dash at the London Games will remain unresolved until Saturday.

USA Track and Field, the sport’s national governing body, issued a statement Wednesday to update the status of the race, which was declared a dead heat after a photo finish.

Both women are also entered in the 200, which begins on Thursday with the preliminary round and ends with Saturday's final. They also have the same coach, Bobby Kersee, and train together in Los Angeles.

Here’s the USATF statement:

“USA Track & Field has consulted with the affected athletes and their support teams regarding the tiebreaker for the women’s 100 meters. USATF will finalize the tiebreaker mechanism to be used after reconvening with the athletes and their coach following Saturday night’s final of the women’s 200 meters. USATF will announce the final tiebreaker Saturday evening or Sunday morning.”

The U.S. trials end Sunday. Wednesday was a day off from competition.
