EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre was back on the practice field Friday, raising hope that he might be able to keep his record streak alive.
Vikings interim head coach Leslie Frazier met with the media following practice and said Favre is still in some pain from the sprained SC joint suffered five days earlier in their game against the Bills.
"He still has some residual effects, but to a lesser degree than he anticipated, so that was encouraging," Frazier said.
Favre is officially listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Giants, which would be his 298th straight start, if he plays. Just a few days ago, it appeared the streak might fall just short of 300. After all, a quarterback kind of needs his throwing shoulder in order to, you know, throw and stuff. As recently as Wednesday, Favre was still having trouble putting on shirts and socks, and he didn't practice or even try to throw until Friday.
But this is Brett Favre we're talking about here.
If this were any other quarterback we'd probably have already thrown dirt on his chances of suiting up Sunday. As we've all learned, such speculation doesn't apply when it comes to Favre, his pain threshold and his powers of recuperation
