A car accident left Jesus Aparicio in a coma on Dec. 12, 2004.

Nearly 11 full years later, the tennis fan woke up on Aug. 27.

According to Tennis World, Aparicio wanted an update on his favorite player, Roger Federer. His mom gave him the report on Federer, who was just 23 and had four Grand Slam titles under his belt when Aparicio suffered his coma.

"It came like a flash to my mind and I asked about Roger," Aparicio reportedly said. "I thought he had retired. When I knew that at 34 years, he is still playing and is No. 2 in the world, I thought they were kidding me. When I heard that he reached 17 slam titles, I put my hands on my face."

Aparicio woke up in time to watch Federer play Novak Djokovic, who he was unfamiliar with, in the U.S. Open final.

"I was really surprised to see him play well, Djokovic is good. I want to see his match before he retires, perhaps his 18th Slam."

Good news for Aparicio. It seems that may happen.
