Ex-Jets RB Joe McKnight to work out for Packers

The Green Bay Packers might be adding a new running back to their roster.
Former New York Jets running back Joe McKnight tweeted Friday "Headed to GREEN BAY TOMORROW #freshstart". McKnight was cut by the Jets on Monday.
However, FOXSports.com's Mike Garafolo reports that McKnight is just in for a workout and he has not signed with the Packers.
In his prediction of the Packers' 53-man roster, Paul Imig speculated either James Starks or Alex Green would have been cut if DuJuan Harris had not gotten hurt, so one of those two could be the odd man out if McKnight signs.
McKnight, who was a fourth-round pick out of Southern California by the Jets in 2010, has rushed for 502 yards on 112 carries (4.5 average) in his three seasons and also caught 17 passes for 177 yards. In addition, McKnight returned kicks for the Jets, which includes touchdowns of 100 yards last season and 107 yards in 2011. Overall, McKnight has a 29-yard average on 76 career kick returns.
Packers running backs struggled during the preseason. Green's 3.4 average per carry was the highest of the backs, with Starks next at 3.1.
