Evason named Admirals' head coach

MILWAUKEE -- Dean Evason on Tuesday was named head coach of the Milwaukee Admirals.

"We are thrilled to welcome Dean to Milwaukee to guide the Admirals," said Admirals owner/CEO Harris Turer. "With 10 straight playoff appearances, we have a rich tradition of success on the ice and of developing players for the next level. We look forward to watching him add to that streak. ..."

Evason, 47, becomes the 20th head coach in the Admirals' history. He spent the past seven seasons as an assistant coach with the NHL's Washington Capitals. During his time as an aide in Washington, the Capitals compiled a 294-206-74 record (.577).

Prior to joining the Capitals, the Flin Flon, Man., native spent six seasons as a head coach in the Western Hockey League.
