Escobedo leads Sun Devils to 2 wins at Wilson DeMarini Invitational

TEMPE -- A three-hit, complete-game shutout and a save highlighted the day for freshman standout Dallas Escobedo, who stepped up Friday to lead the No. 7 ASU softball team to two wins to open the Wilson/DiMarini Invitational.
The Sun Devils topped East Carolina 11-0 in five innings and Northern Iowa 6-1, with Escobedo moving to 8-0 on the year and Mackenzie Popescue improving to 3-1 as ASU raised its record to 14-1 overall.
Game 1 pitted Escobedo against the East Carolina, which was coming off a three-homer win over New Mexico State earlier in the day. Escobedo had little trouble with the Pirates, shaking off an early single and striking out 10 in the victory.
ASU put 12 hits on the board, with Sam Parlich, Annie Lockwood and Mandy Urfer each collecting multiple hits. Alix Johnson and Urfer had two RBIs apiece.
The runs didn't come as easily in the nightcap against the Northern Iowa Panthers. After plating a run in the first inning on a Parlich sac fly, the Sun Devils were silenced by UNI
