Escobedo hurls no-hitter in ASU softball's rout

Dallas Escobedo threw a no-hitter Friday night as the Arizona State softball team shut out Central Connecticut State 8-0 in five innings. With the victory, ASU extended its winning streak to seven games.
Escobedo fanned nine Blue Devils and had only two walks in the no-hitter
while improving to 4-1 on the season. It was her first career
no-hitter.
Katelyn Boyd went 2 for 2 with a double and a stolen base, and Haley Steele hit her third home run of the season en route to a 2-for-3 night with 3 RBIs.
The Devils got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first with an RBI single from Alix Johnson that brought home Boyd, who had reached on a single to left field.
After two quick innings from Escobedo, the ASU bats got hot in the second inning. After a Central Connecticut State error brought in Amber Freeman and Christina Zambrana, an RBI single from Annie Lockwood scored Wigness.
The bottom of the fourth saw ASU plate four more runs, with Sam Parlich slicing a single up the middle for to bring Boyd across for the second time. Soon after, Haley Steele’s hit a three-run bomb just over the wall in left-center, pushing the lead to 8-0.
