RAJKOT, India (AP) England ended India's first innings on 488 runs to take a 49-run lead Saturday with four sessions remaining in the first test.
Ravichandran Ashwin (70) was the last man out for India at the stroke of tea on the fourth day.
After lunch, Adil Rashid (4-114) and Moeen Ali (2-85) took two wickets each to wrap up the lower order after the hosts resumed on 319-4.
England scored 537 in its first innings.
Rashid dismissed Wriddhiman Saha, caught behind for 35 runs, and Ravindra Jadeja (12), who was caught at short leg.
Saha had put on 64 runs for the seventh wicket with Ashwin, while the latter added 24 runs for the eighth with Jadeja.
Ashwin completed his seventh test half-century off 111 balls. Umesh Yadav (5) then skied one off Ali, bringing Mohammed Shami to the crease. Alastair Cook dropped him early at slip off Stuart Broad (1-78), and the tailender added 29 runs for the final wicket with Ashwin.
Ashwin was out caught in the deep off Ali.
