England captain Cook wins toss, elects to bat vs Bangladesh

CHITTAGONG, Bangladesh (AP) Alastair Cook started his record-breaking 134th test for England by winning the toss and electing to bat first in the series-opening match against Bangladesh.
Ben Duckett was selected to make his test debut and will be Cook's ninth opening partner since the retirement of Andrew Strauss. Off-spinner Gareth Batty, who played his last test against the same opponent in 2005, also returned to the England lineup.
The 31-year-old Cook is overtaking Alec Stewart's tally of 133 to become England's most-capped test player.
Bangladesh selected three uncapped players - batsman Sabbir Rahman, off-spinner Mehedi Hasan and fast bowler Kamrul islam- for its first test since July 2015.
