Eastern Michigan pushes past Bowling Green 56-51


BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (AP) -- Mike Talley scored 14 points and Karrington Ward added 13 to propel Eastern Michigan past Bowling Green 56-51 in a Mid-American Conference opener Wednesday night.
The Eagles (9-5, 1-0) looked to pull away early in the second half as Glenn Bryant's three-point play and ensuing dunk ignited a 9-0 run, putting Eastern Michigan up 35-27.
Bowling Green (6-8, 0-1) fought right back, with Anthony Henderson converting a three-point play and hitting a 3-pointer to tie the game at 36 near the midway mark. Eastern Michigan powered ahead from there with an 18-7 surge capped by a Talley free throw with 1:29 remaining.
Eastern Michigan was 21 of 30 from the free throw line and had 12 steals. Glenn Bryant had nine points and eight rebounds.
The Falcons were held to 30.8 percent from the field. Richaun Holmes scored 17 points and Jehvon Clarke chipped in 11.
