Before making his way to Kansas Speedway, Dale Earnhardt Jr. took a trip underground ... 800 feet to be exact.
Earnhardt - a spokesman for the American Coalition for Clean Coal Electricity - visited Consol Energy's Enlow Fork mine in Claysville, Pennsylvania. Said Junior to Pittsburgh's WTAE-TV, "This is more like an adventure. You didn't have to twist my arm too hard to get me down in a coal mine. I wanted to go down there and see what it was all about."
Elsewhere, Kevin Harvick made an appearance on "The Queen Latifah Show". The show was honoring the good deed of a big NASCAR fan and Harvick appeared via satellite to surprise the Good Samaritan with a NASCAR VIP experience.
Finally, Kasey Kahne was in Joplin, Missouri ... the town that's still rebuilding after being devastated by a tornado in 2011.
