Dunn ousts top seed Weinke in ACC Greatest Player Tourney; Kuechly-Adams in spotlight
The ACC Gridiron LIVE Greatest Player Tournament heads into the Sweet 16 minus one of its top seeds.
Florida State's Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Chris Weinke, the No. 1 seed in the offense's Bobby Bowden Region, was knocked out by another former Seminoles star, eighth-seeded Warrick Dunn.
But Dunn isn't the highest remaining seed in the tourney. That would be a pair of No. 14s in Virginia's Ronde Barber, who took out Florida State's sixth-seeded Andre Wadsworth, and Sammy Watkins. The former Clemson wide receiver is in action this week, taking on second seed Roman Gabriel of NC State in the John Heisman Region's semifinals.
There are four votable matchups this week, headlined by a Frank Howard Region clash of third-seeded Luke Kuechly (Boston College) vs. No. 7 Gaines Adams (Clemson).
The John Heisman Region's top seed, Florida State's Charlie Ward, is in action this week vs. Clemson's Joe Bostic (No. 12), while Frank Howard Region top seed Randy White (Maryland) meets ffith-seeded Michael Dean Perry (Clemson).
