ANAHEIM, Calif. – The Anaheim Ducks have reassigned right wing Kyle Palmieri to the Syracuse Crunch, Anaheim’s primary development affiliate in the AHL.
Palmieri, 21 (2/1/91), appeared in 18 contests with the Ducks this season, scoring 4-3=7 points with six penalty minutes (PIM) and a +3 rating. He scored a career-high two goals on Mar. 14 vs. Detroit, becoming the first Ducks rookie to score two goals in a game since Matt Beleskey did so on Apr. 9, 2010 at St. Louis. Since his most recent recall from Syracuse on Mar. 12, Palmieri earned 3-2=5 points with a +4 rating in seven contests.
In 42 games with Syracuse, the Smithtown, NY native has recorded 32-22=54 points with a +15 rating and 47 PIM. A 2012 AHL All-Star, Palmieri led the league in goals, co-led in game-winning goals (7) and ranked 10th in points at the time of his recall on Mar. 12. The 5-11, 196-pound winger also ranked second on Syracuse in scoring, third in power play goals (6) and tied for second in plus/minus.
Selected by Anaheim in the first round (26th overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Palmieri made his NHL debut with the Ducks in 2010-11. At 19 years, nine months and two days, Palmieri was then the fifth-youngest player in club history to appear in a game on Nov. 3, 2010 vs. Tampa Bay. He has appeared in 28 career NHL games with Anaheim, collecting 5-3=8 points with six PIM.
