Dolphins RB Knowshon Moreno reportedly out 4 weeks with elbow injury

Already beset by injuries to several key players, the Miami Dolphins will now be without running back Knowshon Moreno for at least four weeks, according to multiple reports, after he suffered a dislocated elbow during Sunday's loss to the Buffalo Bills.

Moreno, who suffered the injury on his first carry, was one of the driving forces behind the Dolphins' comeback victory against the New England Patriots in Week 1. He totaled 134 rushing yards on 24 carries, including a touchdown in the fourth quarter, in his Dolphins debut.

"Obviously, we'd love to have him, but you have to deal with those things," Dolphins coach Joe Philbin told reporters after the game. "They pop up in football. Injuries happen. So it didn't really impact the game plan. Other guys have to step up. That's football. If a guy gets injured you can't really alter things."

To make matters worse, running back Lamar Miller also left Sunday's game in the fourth quarter with an apparent injury and did not return.

Neither Miller nor Moreno's injury status has yet to be announced by the team.

Undrafted free agent Damien Williams was used against the Bills and is next in the depth chart, followed by Orleans Darkwa.

After a career year with the Denver Broncos last season in which he rushed for 1,038 yards and started in the Super Bowl, Moreno signed a one-year, $3 million contract with the Dolphins over the summer. He was limited during training camp after offseason knee surgery but rebounded strongly in his lone preseason appearance against the Dallas Cowboys.
