Dolphins' Brent Grimes named AFC Defensive Player of the Week

One indicator that the Miami Dolphins are earning respect around the NFL during their three-game win streak is the fact that their players keep winning awards.
This time it's cornerback Brent Grimes who has been named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week for Week 9 of the 2014 NFL season, it was announced by the league on Wednesday.
Grimes put on a dazzling defensive display against the San Diego Chargers on Sunday with two interceptions, three tackles, two pass defensed and a tackle for loss to help his team to the 37-0 victory. He now has four interceptions for the season, which ranks second in the NFL, and his multi-interception game was his first as a member of the Dolphins and his second ever as a pro.
This is the first time Grimes has been awarded Defensive Player of the Week honors in his career. In 2010 as a member of the Seattle Seahawks, he was recognized as the NFC Player of the Week.
The award marks the first time since 2005 that a Dolphins player has won Player of the Week honors in consecutive weeks. Safety Louis Delmas won it last week for his excellent defensive effort against the Jacksonville Jaguars. It also is the second consecutive season that three different Dolphins players have won the same award, with DE Cameron Wake honored after his Week 1 performance against the New England Patriots.
Additionally, rookie receiver Jarvis Landry was recognized as the AFC Special Teams Player of the Month on Oct. 30.
