Dolphins add to receiving corps, sign TE Jordan Cameron to 2-year deal

The Miami Dolphins continued revamping their roster with the announcement Thursday they signed tight end Jordan Cameron to a two-year contract.
"I am pleased to announce that the Miami Dolphins have come to an agreement with Jordan Cameron," Dolphins general manager Dennis Hickey said. "He is a young, proven Pro Bowl performer with playmaking ability that will positively impact our team."
A Pro Bowler in 2013 during his first season as a full-time starter, Cameron was considered one of the top free agents left on the market and appeared to be close to re-signing with the Cleveland Browns according to multiple reports.
A verbal agreement on a two-year, $15 million deal with the Browns earlier in the day was never finalized, and the Dolphins eventually swooped in and secured his services with a better offer, as described by cleveland.com's Mary Kay Cabot.
"It feels great (to be a member of the team)," Cameron said to Greg Likens of The Finsiders. "It's been a long day but we worked it out, and I'm happy to be here. I'm very excited.
"They're heading in the right direction. There's a lot of stuff they're doing, state of the art things, they're bringing people in here, and they're doing things that not a lot of teams are doing. They've got a young squad and I'm excited to see where they're going. They got (Ndamukong) Suh obviously yesterday -- it's a big deal. They've got (Ryan) Tannehill who is making great strides. I'm excited to be here and it's going to be a good thing."
Cameron, 26, said Tannehill's emerging game was a factor in his decision to join the Dolphins.
"Yeah, he's young and he's wiling to work and he puts the hours in," he said. "They were singing his praises all day today and it was definitely a big part of my decision."
His move to Miami could signal the departure of tight end Charles Clay. The Dolphins placed a transition tag on Clay on March 2 that would allow them to match any outside offers, though they may elect to remove that designation.
In his four-year career, Cameron has 130 catches for 1,600 yards and 10 touchdowns in 47 games. He had 24 receptions for 424 yards and two touchdowns in 10 games in 2014, with a position-best 17.7 average yards per reception. He was drafted in the fourth round in 2011 by Cleveland.
