The positive spin is that the Dodgers grew up this season.
Andre Ethier and Matt Kemp learned they could carry a team. Clayton
Kershaw, in his first full season in Los Angeles, displayed signs that
he could be something special. They faced down adversity, turned back
every regular-season challenge and had the National League's best
record.
Yet the ending was just as unsatisfying as a year ago. And the future has become murkier.
The
Dodgers did not take a step forward when it counted most, again falling
to the Phillies in five games in the NL Championship Series, and again
forced to wonder what might have been had Jonathan Broxton been able to
hold a lead in Game 4.
"We had a tremendous season, but we
didn't have a good week," General Manager Ned Colletti said after
Wednesday's 10-4 loss in Philadelphia.
"I watch the little things every day. I see us getting better. I see
us improving, but I still see that there's other things we need to get
