DL likely for CarGo

Rockies OF Carlos Gonzalez left Tuesday's game when his nagging left index finger swelled up again. Gonzalez said later, "I try to stay in there, but it gets to the point where I can't grip a bat. It gets so big, I can't fit into a batting glove." Manager Walt Weiss added, "We're getting to the point where we need to make a decision with him." It sounds like a DL stint is in the cards for CarGo - hopefully, it'll be what he needs to get better.
On to the rest of the news:
Angels OF Mike Trout left Tuesday's game in the second inning after his stiff back acted up. Trout said after the game that the issue isn't too serious, but as the Orange County Register noted, "Considering the importance of keeping Trout healthy, his first career trip to the disabled list would not be a surprise." Stay tuned, Trout owners, and expect him to miss at least today's game.
Streaming starters: Jake Arrieta allowed just one earned run, but threw 105 pitches in 4 2/3 innings, because he's Jake Arrieta. We're down to 39-24 for the season. Today's pick is Edwin Jackson (owned in 2.4 percent of FOXSports.com leagues) versus the Mets, while Thursday's selection is Mike Leake (26.6 percent owned) against the Giants.
Joe Nathan blew another save last night, and his ERA is up to 6.86. The Blue Jays didn't exactly hit a bunch of lasers off Nathan, but I'm still worried.
Wil Myers' right wrist has a stress fracture, and he's expected to miss at least two months. The team's website says that "the right-field duties will likely go to rookie Kevin Kiermaier, Matt Joyce and Ben Zobrist on occasion." Kiermaier has some speed, but as a part-time player? Eh.
Can the Rangers' injury situation get any worse? Yes! 2B Jurickson Profar thinks he'll miss the rest of the season, while SP Matt Harrison had back surgery on Tuesday that will end his season, and possibly his career.
Rockies pitching prospect Eddie Butler will make his big-league debut on Friday against the Dodgers. Butler had a 2.49 ERA at Double A, but with just 40 strikeouts against 19 walks in 68 2/3 innings. Don't expect too much from him right now.
Mark Teixeira hit a home run in his return to the Yankee lineup on Tuesday. Maybe he'll stay healthy for a few more days.
Josh Hamilton homered in his return for the Angels.
Did Ronald Belisario really get a seven-pitch save without allowing a baserunner? Wow.
Red Sox SP Felix Doubront (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment on Thursday.
A's OF Josh Reddick is on the DL with a knee injury.
The Marlins have sent 2B Derek Dietrich to Triple A.
Nationals SP Gio Gonzalez is scheduled for a Friday rehab start, and could be ready for activation after that if all goes well.
Cubs C Welington Castillo is on the DL with a strained rib cage.
See you back here tomorrow morning.
