Diamondbacks decline LaRoche's contract option

The Arizona Diamondbacks announced Tuesday that they have declined to exercise the 2011 club option on first baseman Adam LaRoche.
The 30-year-old Laroche signed a one-year, $4.5 million contract with Arizona prior to the 2010 season. There was a mutual option for 2011 at $7.5 million.
Laroche hit .261 (146 for 560) with 25 home runs and 100 RBI in 151 games with the Diamondbacks. Over parts of seven seasons in the majors with the Atlanta Braves, Pittsburgh Pirates, Boston Red Sox and Diamondbacks, he has a .271 average with 161 home runs and 569 RBIs.
