PHOENIX -- The Diamondbacks got a little healthier Tuesday.
Chris Owings and A.J. Pollock were reinstated from the disabled list before the D-backs' game at San Diego, the second game of a 10-game road trip that also includes stops in Los Angeles and San Francisco.
Pollock has been on the disabled list since May 31 after suffering a fractured fourth metacarpal in his right hand when struck by a pitch from Cincinnati right-hander Johnny Cueto.
Owings has been out since June 28, eight days after he suffered a slight shoulder dislocation when he collided with San Francisco catcher Hector Sanchez while attempting to stretch a triple into an inside-the-park homer.
With Pollock back to patrol center field, Ender Inciarte is likely to see more time in left field, especially now that Mark Trumbo is the regular starter at first base.
Pollock was hitting .317 with 16 doubles, six home runs and 15 RBI in 52 games before the injury and had settled nicely into the leadoff spot in the batting order. Enciarte is hitting there now, and manager Kirk Gibson will have options moving forward. Enciarte is hitting .291 with eight doubles, three homers and 15 RBI in 51 games in the leadoff spot. Pollock struggled during his rehab stint, hitting .173 in 15 games with Triple-A Reno and the rookie Arizona League.
Owings was hitting .277 with 15 doubles, six homers and 21 RBI in 72 games with the D-backs. He hit .298 with eight stolen bases in his rehab stint with Reno and in the Arizona League.
Owings joins a crowded middle infield that also includes Didi Gregorius, Aaron Hill and Cliff Pennington. Gibson said earlier that the D-backs will look at Owings at second base in September, and Hill could play some third.
