While hosting a one-on-one basketball tournament Friday night in Dallas, Mavericks guard Delonte West got a surprise visit from a popular Cowboys player.

Shortly after West arrived, he noticed Dez Bryant filling out his name on the sign-up sheet.

"Dez, what are you doing here, man," West asked, according to a recent radio interview West did on 103.3's Ben and Skin Show [KESN-FM]. "He said, 'Man, I'm coming to get that thousand dollars.'"

The event, which was held at the Oak Cliff Family YMCA, was a qualifier in the Red Bull King of the Rock tourney. Winners from each qualifier advance to the finals at Alcatraz Island in the San Francisco Bay, where the winner is awarded $20,000.

"Dez Bryant, he just showed up on his own," West said. "He saddled up to sign up and play. You got to love that guy."

Bryant didn't win the tournament, though. The Cowboys receiver lost in the first round to a 17-year-old high school junior from Dallas Carter.

Victor Haywood, who says he is 6-6, 187 pounds on his Twitter account, got the best of the 6-2, 218-pound wide out, winning 11-8.

"I had fun tonight with the kids at the oak cliff YMCA and thanks to Delonte and @redbullDFW for a great event," Bryant tweeted Friday night.
