Detroit's bankrupt ... and winning

Yes, Cleveland, Detroit is definitely bankrupt.
They are also pulling away in the American League Central and can sell out their home games.
The Tigers-Indians rivalry took a new twist during Detroit's 6-5 victory Wednesday night. It started when, taking advantage of the half-empty stadium, a group of Detroit fans got a "Let's Go Tigers!" chant going. Cleveland's crowd ripped their response straight from the headlines, starting a "Detroit's Bankrupt!" chant that was clearly audible on the FOX Sports Detroit broadcast.
Considering the game drew FSD's highest rating of the season, it didn't take long for Twitter to start rumbling. Most of the responses centered around two themes -- "Yes, but you are still Cleveland" and shots at the small crowds at Progressive Field. The Tigers and Indians came into the four-game series separated by just three games in the standings, but the first three games have all drawn fewer than 25,000 fans. In contrast, the Tigers had just come off a homestand where they sold out Comerica Park for all eight games.
The "Bankrupt" chant was making the rounds of talk radio in Detroit on Thursday, but it wasn't drawing huge amounts of outrage. Most fans were still enjoying Wednesday's 14-inning win and the fact that the Tigers had won the first three games of the series. FOX Sports Detroit's Mickey York probably summed up the most common feeling on the post-game show when he broke into his own chant:
"Six Game Lead! Six Game Lead!"
