Dee nets 17, San Diego beats Southern Utah

CEDAR CITY, Utah (AP) -- Johnny Dee scored 17 points, Chris Anderson added 13 points, six assists and five steals and San Diego cruised past Southern Utah on the road Tuesday night for a 67-53 win.

San Diego (4-5) jumped out to a 14-4 lead when Mike Davis hit a lay-up with 12:37 remaining in the half and led 36-22 when the two teams headed to the locker room at halftime. Southern Utah cut the Toreros lead to three at 39-36 when Jayson Cheesman hit a pair of free throws with 12:06 to go but that's as close as the Thunderbirds got.

The Toreros held Southern Utah (2-6) to just 35.1 percent from the field and forced 16 turnovers while out-rebounding the Thunderbirds 43-31.

Damon Heuir scored 17 points, grabbed eight rebounds and dished out five assists to lead Southern Utah and teammate Jackson Stevenett had 13 points and eight rebounds.
