Rangers general manager Jon Daniels is set to be a part of the team's front office for a long time.

Daniels and the Rangers have agreed to terms on a four-year contract that will tie him to the club until 2015. Financial terms have not been disclosed.

Should Daniels see out the full length of the deal, it would make him the longest-tenured GM in team history.

"My family and I love being in Texas and hope to build something really special over the next handful of years," he said. "I think we've got a foundation and a process in place that we're real comfortable with."

"Jon and his baseball operations group have done an outstanding job in building an organization that will allow the Rangers to contend for postseason play year in and year out," Rangers President Nolan Ryan said in a statement. "The efforts in scouting and player development as well as sound decisions on the major league level have put our franchise in a good position. We look forward to Jon leading our baseball operation for many years to come."

Daniels began his tenure as GM in 2005 following John Hart's resignation. Since then, he has earned praise across baseball for engineering the Rangers' turnaround from AL cellar dweller to World Series participant, including the acquisition of franchise cornerstones Josh Hamilton, Nelson Cruz, Elvis Andrus and Neftali Feliz among others.

Current Rangers broadcaster and former player Tom Grieve currently has the longest tenure of any team general manager, lasting from Sept. 1984 until Sept. 1994.
