The Diamondbacks on Friday claimed outfielder Roger Kieschnick off waivers from the Giants and optioned him to Triple-A Reno. To make room on the 40-man roster, pitcher Patrick Corbin was transferred to the 60-day disabled list. Corbin is out for the season after undergoing Tommy John surgery on March 25 to repair a torn elbow ligament.

Kieschnick, 27, appeared in 38 games with San Francisco in 2013 and hit .202 (17 for 84) with five RBI. He also batted .273 (102 for 374) with 13 home runs, 27 doubles, nine triples and 56 RBI in 101 games with Triple-A Fresno.

The 6-foot-3, 220-pounder is a career .275 hitter (497 for 1,807) with 71 homers, 108 doubles and 298 RBI in 476 minor league games in the Giants organization. Kieschnick was originally drafted by San Francisco in the third round of the 2008 First-Year Player Draft.
