The Arizona Diamondbacks announced Monday that Friday's opening-day game against the San Francisco Giants is sold out. Tickets remain available for the games Saturday and Sunday at Chase Field.

"This is the earliest we’ve sold out Opening Day in several years, and we’re expecting a great crowd throughout opening weekend,” said Diamondbacks president and CEO Derrick Hall. "There is so much excitement right now for the D-backs that we’re really encouraging our fans to get their tickets early for the best seats."

The first 10,000 fans at that game also will receive a Kirk Gibson fan, courtesy of CenturyLink.

The opening-day sellout comes on the heels of the D-backs' announcement last week that the team's spring-training facility, Salt River Fields at Talking Stick, broke its own year-old record for total attendance for a two-team complex. The complex -- shared by the D-backs and Rockies -- broke last year’s mark of 359,308. That number had shattered the previous record for attendance at a two-team complex, surpassing the 2008 mark (230,146) set in Peoria by the Mariners and Royals. The D-backs’ average spring attendance is the highest in the majors.
