MINNEAPOLIS -- After his second arrest in four days, Dante Cunningham is back with the Timberwolves.
The reserve forward will be active and available to play in Tuesday night's game against the Spurs, Minnesota coach Rick Adelman told reporters before the contest. Cunningham wound up in jail Thursday and was later charged with felony domestic assault, posted bail Friday, played in Orlando on Saturday and was arrested again Sunday, this time for making terroristic threats.
After learning of his charges regarding the initial alleged incident -- both involve a woman claiming to be his girlfriend, who says they've lived together for eight months -- Cunningham posted $150,000 bond Monday and was released from custody again.
He rejoined the team Tuesday and issued the following statement, declining any further in-person comment.
"The charges and accusations in my personal life have unintentionally placed my teammates and the organization in a challenging position," Cunningham said. "I cannot comment on the charges, as we require that the facts play out through the legal process. Thank you for your understanding."
The NBA's collective bargaining agreement allows players to compete while the legal process plays out. Adelman and the Timberwolves have mostly steered away from commenting on the situation.
"I just can't even comment on it, because I really don't know all the circumstances," Adelman said after practice Monday. "So it's something we'll have to wait and see what happens with that, and move on when we find out."
Said power forward Kevin Love: "It's tough. We hope for the best for him, but we know that it's a personal thing."
Love will start Tuesday night after missing Saturday's loss against the Magic due to back spasms. His return, along with the signing of Othyus Jeffers for the remainder of the season give Minnesota 11 active players against the Spurs.
Chase Budinger (right ankle sprain) and Shabazz Muhammad (right MCL sprain) are likely out for the campaign's final six games, and starters Nikola Pekovic (sore right ankle) and Kevin Martin (sore right heel) won't dress Tuesday night.
