Mark Cuban is doing his best to blaze as many new trails as he can in the NBA this week.
First, Cuban said that he would draft Baylor's Brittney Griner if she were available in the second round of the upcoming NBA draft and give the women's basketball superstar a shot at making it in the NBA.
Now, hot off the heels of Magic Johnson's comments today about welcoming a gay player on the Los Angeles Dodgers, Cuban has stated that he would be honored if the first gay player in the NBA played for his Dallas Mavericks.
TMZ.com released an interview with Johnson on Thursday where the Dodgers owner said that if anybody from the team were to come out, he would not only be supported, but also protected.
TMZ reached out to Cuban on their web show, "TMZ Live," to get his feelings on the statements from Johnson.
"Exact same thing," Cuban said. "I would do it the exact same way. I've been saying the same thing for years. There will be somebody who comes out. It will be a great moment for sports."
And if that player who comes out were to be a player on the Mavericks, Cuban too would welcome them in his locker room.
"I would be honored if he was on my team," Cuban said. "I think things have changed, significantly, in that the players would accept him. All professional sports have had their homophobic missteps along the way, it's a new era, a new generation and the player would be accepted.
"I think we are starting, at least on the edges, to break down those barriers. This shouldn't be a big deal. I applaud Magic for being willing to step out and show leadership like he always has."
