COLUMBUS – The Columbus Crew announced today that midfielder/defender Kevan George has been called-up for international duty with Trinidad and Tobago ahead of an international friendly against New Zealand on Tuesday, October 15 at Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.

The call-up from Head Coach Stephen Hart is George’s third on the senior roster in 2013 after earning a call-up during the OSN Cup, an international tournament held in Saudi Arabia from September 5-9. During the tournament, George made two substitute appearances to earn his first two caps on the senior roster, appearing as a substitute in the match against the United Arab Emirates on September 5 and against Saudi Arabia on September 9. George previously made three starts in the 2012 Olympic Qualifying run with Trinidad and Tobago’s Under-23 squad.
George departs today and will return ahead of the match against the New England Revolution on Saturday, October 19 at Gillette Stadium (7:30 p.m. ET / FOX Sports Ohio). While on international duty, George will not miss any of the Black & Gold’s League matches as the Crew enters a bye weekend.
With the Crew, George has made a career-high 11 appearances – including three starts – through 32 matches in 2013. The Black & Gold drafted George in the second round (29th overall) in the 2012 MLS SuperDraft, and in his rookie season he made seven appearances, including four starts.
