The Coyotes on Thursday assigned forward Nick Johnson to the Portland Pirates, the team's American Hockey League affiliate.
The 27-year-old Johnson has appeared in 17 games with the Coyotes this season, totaling four goals and two assists to go along with a plus-3 rating. He also has played in two games with the Pirates and five games with the Idaho Steelheads of the ECHL this season.
